Committees
Food Committee
This committee assists with securing and organizing food donations and planning for all marching band events including football game day meals, organizing competition/travel meal and snack needs, coordinating concession stands fundraising events, providing special treats during band camp weeks, and more. Additionally, this group works with the Directors and parent coordinators for the smaller ensembles on food needs during the winter season.
Fundraising Committee
This is a very important committee for the organization that we always are seeking members for! This committee focuses on all aspects of financial support for the band program including community partnerships, renewals of annual supporters, new local business solicitation, grant applications, individual and group fundraising, etc. Additionally, this group also manages the implementation of our recognition program for donors, partners, and sponsors.
Props Committee
Get out your hammers, drills, and paint brushes! This committee works closely with our Directors and vendors related to prop needed for the for the show including various parts of actually designing, building, painting, and decorating props. Additionally, this group helps determine what is needed for transporting props and developing logistical plans for getting show props from the trucks to the fields and then on and off the field during performances and competitions.
Recruitment Committee
The Board is committed to coordinated efforts to focus on helping to bring new members into our band family. This committee assists with yearlong coordination of all outreach and recruitment efforts related to current high school students, incoming junior high students, and parents/guardians. The activities the help plan and implement include a HSE football game that junior high band members can attend, “Try It” Nights where students can come meet some current students in the program and see what marching band is all about, combined high school and junior high student pep band at basketball games, in class meet-and greets, and more.
Student & Family Experience (Spirit) Committee
This committee focuses on so much of the FUN for our students and families! Additionally, their role is to collaborate with the Directors to plan and implement fun activities that focus on student personal growth and social engagement. It is responsible for celebrations and spirit related activities including an annual theme reveal party, band hall decorating, family/supporter send offs, special treats during rehearsals and events, social events, banquet activities, and more.
Uniform Committee
This a fun committee that helps with uniforms throughout the season. It begins with the process of measuring the students for the custom uniforms then moves into the actual assignment and fittings of the uniforms once they arrive. Then throughout the season, this committee helps get the students in uniform throughout the season for football games and competitions including making ongoing adjustments and fixes as needed along with helping keep the uniforms clean and laundered. Members of this committee absolutely do not need to know how to sew…but if you do sew this committee would love to have you as a member!
Note: Unique specialty committees are created throughout the year for specific needs of that activity or season.
*ATTENTION…ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE*
According to Hamilton Southern School District guidelines, anyone who volunteers for our band programs must complete a background check through SafeVisitor prior to volunteering at any event. Once completed, these approvals are good for three years and then must be resubmitted. If you have completed this process for another school in the HSE District, that approval continues to be valid for up to the three year expiration period.
For local volunteer work, go to the district website pages related to school safety and follow the steps accordingly using this link:
